Bertha 'Bert' M. Andrews, age 97 of Altoona, Iowa and former Cincinnati, Iowa resident, died Wednesday, March 12, 2008 at Altoona Nursing & Rehab in Altoona, Iowa. She was born the daughter of Mark and Elizabeth (Hilt) Cross on January 22, 1911 in Warrensburg, Missouri. She attended school near Warrensburg.On September 8, 1928, Bertha was united in marriage to William A. Andrews in Milan, Missouri. They owned a restaurant together in Cincinnati for several years call, Bert & Bill's. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Cincinnati.She was preceded in death by: her parents; husband, William Andrews on March 30, 1971; and a step-son, Clifford Andrews.Bertha is survived by: her daughters, Betty England of Altoona, Iowa and Barbara 'Joan' Marsh and her husband, Dale of Burlington Junction, Missouri; half sister, Goldie Blaylock of Sedalia, Missouri; six grandchildren, ten great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren.Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 15, 2008 at 1 pm at the United Methodist Church in Cincinnati, Iowa with Rev. Jim Schweizer officiating. Burial will follow at the Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Cincinnati, Iowa. Visitation will be held on Friday, March 14, 2008 from 2 pm till 8 pm at the Schmidt Family Funeral Home in Centerville, Iowa with the family present from 6 pm till 8 pm.Memorials can be made to either the United Methodist Church or Pleasant Hill Cemetery both in Cincinnati and left at the funeral home.
