Bert E. Tracy's Obituary
Bert Elvin Tracy, age 82 of Centerville, Iowa, died Thursday, May 30, 2013 at The Hearth in Hendersonville, Tennessee. He was born the son of Ben and Iza (Fenton) Tracy on October 15, 1930 near Brushy, Iowa in Appanoose County. He received his education in a rural Appanoose Country School.On October 30, 1949, Bert was united in marriage to Donna Goben and were blessed with four sons, Gary, Don, Rick and Bruce. In the 1960's, he began Tracy Construction, which built bridges and installed culverts throughout the state of Iowa. He will not only be missed by his family; but a multitude of friends he enjoyed helping throughout Appanoose County. We will ALL miss that laugh!.He was preceded in death by: his parents; wife, Donna Tracy on May 21, 1985; son, Gary Tracy on August 30, 2002; brother, Lloyd Tracy and a sister, Shirley Wyldes.Bert is survived by: his sons; Rick Tracy of Centerville, Iowa, Bruce Tracy and his wife, Jamie of Centerville, Iowa and Don Tracy and his wife, Lana of Goodlettsville, Tennessee; sisters, Marilyn Oswalt of Centerville, Iowa and Lavon Houston of Davenport, Iowa; seven grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.Funeral services will be held on Monday, June 3, 2013 at 10 am at the Schmidt Family Funeral Home in Centerville, Iowa with Rev. Bryan Wyldes officiating. Burial will follow in the Oakland Cemetery in Centerville. Visitation will be held on Saturday, June 1, 2013 from 2 pm until 8 pm with the family present from 6 till 8 pm.Memorials can be made to Caris Hospice and may be left or mailed to the funeral home.
