Benjamin Benji 'Nort' Dommer's Obituary
Benjamin, Benji "Nort" Dommer, age 45, of Moravia, passed away Tuesday, April 26, 2022 at MercyOne Medical Center in Centerville.
Benji was born on June 22, 1976 in Albia, Iowa, the son of Randy Brent Dommer and Karen Louise (Moss) Dommer. He graduated from Moravia High School with the Class of 1994. Benji married Sunny Jo Kratofil, and to this union, Colton Chad was born. The couple later divorced. On February 14, 2020, Benji was united in marriage to Christine Knapp.
Following high school, Benji farmed for a period of time. His true passion was fencing, so he started his business, Deep Woods Fencing, and he fenced for most of his life.
In his free time, Benji enjoyed Coyote hunting, fishing, riding his mules, smoking meats and grilling, and farming-especially his cattle. Benji had a special love for children, and they had a special fondness for him. He could get them to work and enjoy it! Benji made a lot of friends throughout his life. His door was always open for friends and family.
Left to honor Benjis memory are his wife, Christine Dommer of Moravia; his mother, Karen (Steve) Golston of Moravia; his paternal grandmother, Nadine Dommer of Moravia; his children, Colton Chad, Zachary James, Connor James (Gentry), and Aiden Wade (Keelie); a brother, Cory (Kelsie) Dommer of Woodburn, Iowa; his nieces, Kenley and Brentli; as well as several friends and extended family members.
Benji was preceded in death by his father, Randy Dommer; uncle, Larry Backus; maternal grandparents, Carl (Katie) Cox; his paternal grandfather, Laurence "Red Dog" Dommer; and a great friend, Tutor Cochran.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30AM, Saturday, April 30, 2022 at the Lighthouse Church of the Nazarene in Moravia with Pastor Terry Chapman officiating. Burial will follow the service at Hillcrest Cemetery in Moravia. Visitation will take place Friday, April 29, 2022 at Lange Funeral Home in Moravia, beginning at 9:00AM, with the family greeting friends from 5-8PM.
