Belulah Marie Burger's Obituary
Beulah Marie Burger, age 89, of Centerville, Iowa, died Tuesday, March 3, 2009 at Mercy Medical Center in Centerville. She was born the daughter of William and Myrtle (Peterson) Powell on January 20, 1920 near Udell, Iowa. She graduated from the Udell Community Schools in 1936 as Valedictorian of her class.On September 8, 1936, Beulah was united in marriage to Vernon 'Shorty' Burger in Unionville, Iowa. She was a homemaker and loved to farm alongside her husband in the Udell area. She was a member of the Fairview Church of the Brethren near Unionville, Iowa.She was preceded in death by: her parents; son, David Burger; brothers, Lester Powell, Dwight Powell and Gerald Powell; a sister, Edith Dorow; and a son-in-law, Ray Hafar.Beulah is survived by: her husband, Vernon 'Shorty' Burger of Centerville, Iowa; sons, Ronald M. Burger and his wife, Ruth of Centerville, Iowa, Richard D. Burger and his wife, Shelley of Moulton, Iowa, Dwayne I. Burger and his wife, Sheila of Gladstone, Missouri and Robert L. Burger and his wife, Bernice of Irvington, Alabama; daughters, Ramona M. Hafar of Centerville, Iowa and Linda Hodges of Columbia, Missouri; and a adopted son, Fred Nungesser and his wife, Sibylle of Zimmerman, Minnesota; Nineteen grandchildren, twenty-six great grandchildren and two great, great grandchildren.Funeral services will be held on Friday, March 6, 2009 at 9 am at the Schmidt Family Funeral Home in Centerville, Iowa with Rev. Carl Heien officiating. Burial will follow at the Fairview Cemetery south of Unionville, Iowa. Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 5, 2009 from 1 pm till 8 pm at the Schmidt Family Funeral Home in Centerville with the family present from 6 pm till 8 pm at the funeral home.Memorials can be made to the Fairview Cemetery Association or to Mercy Medical Center in Centerville and can be left at the funeral home.
