Becky Jane Strube, 72 of Centerville, passed away Thursday, March 1, 2012 at her home at Maple Grove Assisted Living. She was born July 7, 1939 in Clinton, Iowa, the daughter of Marvin L. (Buck) & Arla E. (Slaughter) Hansen. Becky was raised in and graduated from Clinton High. She received nurses training and was an LPN and worked at several hospitals/ Nursing Home including Clinton, Iowa, Oral Roberts City of Faith in Tulsa, Ok, Golden Age Manner and St. Joseph Mercy Hospital, Centerville. Becky married Jack W. Emerson and later divorced. To this union a son, Christopher W., was born. She would later be united in marriage to LeRoy H. Strube in Clinton, Iowa in 1969, who adopted Christopher. They later divorced. She received Jesus as her Savior and Lord in 1981 and was baptized at Rock Valley Church of God in Centerville. She received ministry training in Tulsa, Ok and South Bend, IN. She made numerous missionary trips to over 20 countries in Africa, Asia, Central America and the Caribbean. Haiti was her favorite and they lovingly knew her as ""Mother Strube"" Becky served for many years as Associate Minister at Good Samaritan Church of Centerville. She loved spending time with her family, friends, had compassion for the lost, loved to teach the Bible, play the piano, watch the birds, go fishing, enjoyed flowers and her daschunds. She lived life to the fullest and learned to overcome many physical challenges. Her life as a Christian was an inspiration to many. Becky is survived by her sister, Sally Starbuck of Clinton, IA; son, Chris (Ruth) Strube of Centerville; four granddchildren: Elizabeth ""Elle"" Strube of Tulsa, OK, Anna Strube of Ottumwa, Aimee (Jonny) Jackson, Ottumwa and Jonathan Strube of Ottumwa, 4 nephews: Steve, Dave (Marcia) of Fulton, IL, Jim (Carla) and Tom (Alison) Starbuck, of Clinton. She was preceeded in death by her parents, infant children Timothy and Molly Strube.
Funeral services will be held at 2 pm Tuesday, March 6 at the Lange Funeral home, 1900 S 18th St. in Centerville with Pastor Howard Luscan officiating. A visitation will be held on Monday at the funeral home all day with the family present from 6-8 pm. Interment will be in Haines Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Feeding The Nations/Haiti Mission and left at or mailed to Lange Funeral Home 1900 S. 18th, Centerville IA 52544.
