Beatrice "Bea" Morton's Obituary
Beatrice 'Bea' Morton, age 87, of Centerville, Iowa, died Monday, July 29, 2013, at Mercy Medical Center in Centerville. She was born the daughter of Gus and Elizabeth (Janisch) Lignell on December 20, 1925 in Chicago, Illinois. She graduated from the Calument High School in Calumet, Illinois.On July 3, 1945, Bea was united in marriage to Claude Morton in Chicago, Illinois. In 1954, Bea and Claude opened the Ben Franklin Store in Centerville, Iowa, which began a long career of serving folks in Centerville. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Centerville.She was preceded in death by: her parents; husband, Claude Morton on March 22, 1997; and a daughter, Beatrice E. Morton.Bea is survived by: her son, Ron Morton and his wife, Denise of Coal Valley, Illinois, Claudia Waggener of Shellsburg, Iowa and Terri Sherwood and her husband, John of Centerville, Iowa; Twelve grandchildren, three step-grandchildren; twenty-one great grandchildren and three step great grandchildren.Funeral services will be held at 1 pm, Saturday, August 3, 2013 at the Schmidt Family Funeral Home in Centerville, Iowa with Fr. Mike Volkmer, CPPS officiating. Burial will follow in the Oakland Cemetery in Centerville. Visitation will be held on Friday, August 2, 2013 from 1 pm until 8 pm and the family will be present from 6 pm until 8 pm at the funeral home.Memorials can be made to HCI Care Services or Kidney Foundation and may be left or mailed to the funeral home.
