Barbra Jean Swan's Obituary
Barbara Jean Swan of Centerville, Iowa was called home to be with the Lord on August 27,2022.
Barbara was born October 30, 1941 in Chicago, Illinois to Americo and Nellie (Baugher) Maddalozzo. She graduated from Wells High School in 1959 in Chicago, Illinois.
She was married to her loving husband Ron Swan. Together they raised five children; Dea, John, Dickie, Patrick and Missy. Barbara was also blessed with many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Barbara worked a host of jobs including book keeping for the multiple family businesses.
Barbs greatest joy was her family and home. She was a meticulous homemaker. She loved animals from pets, her favorite animal the elephant or just the wild life around the farm. She was a great supporter of the Humane Society. She also loved to travel with her husband and family and even got to enjoy a trip to Italy. She loved to read and would often exchange books with her sister Laura. She had a fondness for purses, shoes and cologne. Her favorite beverage was coffee, even better with a biscotti.
Barb always enjoyed music and dancing. She loved attending church at the Riverside Church in Knoxville, Iowa.
Barb was friendly to everyone. She had many friends and enjoyed visits from them where she would serve coffee and a meal.
Barb is survived by her husband Ron Swan. Children; DeAnna Swan, John Swan (Nealy), Dickie Swan, Patrick Swan (Jackie), Melissa Ann Swan. Sister Laura Ann Dye, Brother in-law Marvin Swan (Shirley) and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents Americo and Nellie (Baugher) Maddalozzo. An infant brother Jonnie Eugene Maddalozzo. Brother in-law David Dye. Mother and Father in-law Paul and Velma Swan. Brother and sister in-law Bernard and Dixie Swan Egbert.
The family will be greeting friends for a card shower at the Riverside Church in Knoxville, Iowa on Saturday, September 10, 2022 at 2:00 PM.
