Barbara Jean Walag-Middleton's Obituary
Barbara Jean Walag-Middleton, age 86 of Centerville, Iowa passed away Monday, July 18, 2016 at Centerville Specialty Care.
Barbara was born on October 22, 1929 to Arthur and Eva Gradwell Van Dorin in Centerville. At age 12, she accepted the Lord as her Saviour, and was baptized in the Exline Christian Church, where she has remained a member her whole life.
In 1950, she was united in marriage to John Edward Walag, and to this union were born two sons, Mike (Elizabeth) Walag and Mark (Karen) Walag. She was the proud 'Grammy' to Katie, Andy, Matt, Kristi, Sara, and Gina. She is survived by her husband, Terry Middleton, who has been a faithful care giver during their sixteen years of marriage; and also survived by three sisters--Betty Klein of Hutchison, Kansas; Jessie Jett of Lebanon, Missouri; and Jolene Houser of Upland, California. She was preceded in death by her parents.
Barbara leaves behind a host of relatives and friends. She was a nurse for many years, caring for the sick, helping those in need, as she worked in area hospitals, care centers, and doctors' offices. She also served on the Exline School Board and Exline City Council at various times.
Funeral services will be held at 11 AM, Thursday, July 21, 2016 at Lange Funeral Home and Crematory in Centerville, Iowa with Pastor Ken Glass officiating. Burial will follow in the Exline Cemetery, Exline, Iowa. A visitation will take place from 10-11AM on Thursday at Lange Funeral Home in Centerville. Memorials have been established to the Exline Recreation Committee and may be mailed to Lange Funeral Home, 1900 S. 18th St., Centerville, Iowa, 52544.
