Barbara J. Thomas' Obituary
Barbara Thomas, age 72 of Centerville, Iowa passed away Monday, October 22, 2007 at Golden Age Care Center in Centerville.
Barbara was born June 12, 1935, the daughter of Eugene and Viva (Hurt) Ballard in Centerville, Iowa. She grew up in Centerville and attended the Centerville Schools. Barbara married ""Junior"" Brinkley. He preceded her in death. She later married Eugene ""Jigs"" Thomas on December 14, 1968. He preceded her in death on September 27, 2003. Before her marriage, Barbara worked for Luse Nursing Home in Centerville. She later spent her time as a homemaker. Barbara was a member of the Grace Tabernacle Church in Centerville. She devoted herself to her family and her church.
Barbara is survived by four children, Paul Brinkley of Moulton, Iowa, Bobby Brinkley of Moulton, Iowa, Mike Brinkley, and Kathy Thomas of Cincinnati, Iowa; two sisters, Genevieve Adams of Centerville, Iowa, and Edna Bennett of Moravia, Iowa; two grandchildren, Zach Croak and James Thomas. She was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter Dixie Brinkley; an infant son Joseph Brinkley; and four siblings, Paul Ballard, Juanita Pullen, Lester Ballard, and Bonnie McDonald.
Funeral services will be held 2 PM, Thursday, October 25, 2007 at the Thomas Lange Funeral Home in Centerville with Pastor Brian Hargrave officiating. Burial will follow in the Promise City Cemetery. An open visitation at the funeral home will begin 4 PM, Wednesday, with the family present from 6-8 PM. A memorial has been established to the family and may be left at or mailed to the Thomas Lange Funeral Home, 1900 S.18th St., Centerville, Iowa 52544.
