Barbara Jean Moore's Obituary
Barbara Jean Moore was born on March 2, 1954, in Hampton, Iowa, to parents Clare and Mae (Kastner) Holbrook. She passed away on September 17, 2021, at Westview Acres in Leon, Iowa, after a lengthy illness.
The family moved to Seymour when Barb was in elementary school. She attended school in Seymour, received her GED, and went on to take college classes. She married her high school sweetheart, Rick Moore, on September 12, 1969. Born to this union were three daughters, Diane Lynn, Cynthia Sue, and Becki Ann. Throughout her younger years, Barb worked at Hardees, Curwood, sold Tupperware, and worked at Neely's. She was office manager for Dr. Tim P. Nicolino's dental office for several years. Barb always loved a good garage sale or auction, crafting, sewing, and going to flea markets. She had a successful online auction business. She served as a member of the Wayne County Development Corporation.
Preceding her in death were her parents, Clare Holbrook and Mae Dray; special pet, a Boston Terrier named Tony; half brother, Rex L. Barber; nephew, Kenny Barber.
Surviving Barb are Rick Moore and Maggie Mae, Boston Terrier "daughter," of Seymour; daughters, Diane (Raymond) Yenzer of Leon; Cindy (Mike) Bartels of Promise City; and Becki (Bryan Kratzer) of Norwalk. Grandchildren: Whitney (Johnathan) Mehrhoff of Corydon, Cody (Amanda) Cox of Harrisburg, Mo; Colton (Alicia) Schmidt of Osceola; Miranda Bartels (Jared Brown) of Centerville; Caylee Schmidt of Pleasant Hill, Andrew Yenzer of Ames, and Allison Yenzer of Des Moines. Great-grandchildren: Karsyn, Karleigh, Ronan, Truman, Jaxson, Vivian, and Genevieve.
Per her wishes, Barb was cremated and will be laid to rest along with her beloved pet, Tony. Graveside services will be held at Southlawn Cemetery in Seymour, Iowa, on Sunday, September 26, 2021, at 2 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Seymour First Responders.
