Barbara Louise Appler's Obituary
Barbara Louise Appler, age 73, of Moulton, Iowa, died Wednesday, September 7, 2005, at Mercy Medical Center in Centerville, Iowa. She was born the daughter of the late Kenneth C. Kirby and the late Marguerite (Wahl) Kirby on August 15, 1932 in Moulton, Iowa. She graduated in 1951 from Moulton High School, Moulton, Iowa.On March 31, 1956, she was united in marriage to John Pierce Appler in Moulton, Iowa. She worked for a time at McClellan's and Iowa Southern Utilities in Centerville, Iowa and in 1976; she became the manager of Farmers Mutual Cooperative Telephone Company in Moulton, Iowa until the time of her death. She was a member of the Moulton United Methodist Church. She was also a member of Chapter F - PEO, member of Moulton-Udell School Board for nine years, President of the Moulton Chamber of Commerce, 4-H assistant leader, and member of the Moulton Housing Development Board. She and her husband ran a dairy business for over 30 years.Barbara was preceded in death by: her parents.She is survived by: her husband John Pierce Appler of Moulton, Iowa; sons Glenn Appler and his wife, Jackie, of DeWitt, Iowa; Brad Appler and his wife, Jennifer, of Centerville, Iowa; Kent Appler and his wife, Laura, of Clermont, Iowa; and Mike Appler and his wife, Susan, of Norwalk, Iowa; a daughter, Belinda Appler of Lisle, Illinois; brothers Max Kirby of Moulton, Iowa and Wayne Kirby and his wife, Sharolyn, of Kirksville, Missouri; and seven grandchildren: Mallory, Nathan, Marci, Joe, Kaitlyn, Kathryn and Matthew.Funeral services will be held on Sunday, September 11, 2005 at 1:30 P.M. at the Moulton United Methodist Church in Moulton, Iowa with Pastor Kay Singley officiating. Burial will follow at the Sunset View Cemetery, north of Moulton, Iowa.
