Aretta Ocker's Obituary
Aretta Ocker, 65, of Moulton, passed away on August 8, 2018 at her residence surrounded by her loving family. Aretta was born on April 18, 1953 in Ottumwa to Bobby and Lois (Higginbotham) Corder. After graduating from Ottumwa High School in 1971, Aretta married Delbert Ocker on her 18th birthday at the Moulton United Methodist Church and to this union, one daughter was born. Aretta and Delbert moved quite frequently throughout their married lives, finally settling in Olathe, Kansas where she launched a 25 year career as an accounting specialist at the Kansas school for the deaf. After retiring in 2011, the pair moved back to Moulton. Aretta enjoyed fishing, square dancing, bingo, playing cards, coloring, collecting records, spending time with her family and her beloved dog, "Buddy Samuel" and music. She and Delbert were in a band for several years where she played the bass and sang. Aretta is survived by her husband, Delbert; daughter, Jeanie Ocker; sister, Judy Corder; brother, John Corder; sister-in-law, Sandra Corder; niece, Jenna Corder; great nieces: Jenika Corder and Haylee Fountain; great nephew, Carson Fountain and a host of other nieces, nephews and extended family members. She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers: James and David Corder and an infant sister, Doris Jean Corder. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, August 14, 2018 at Thomas Funeral Home in Moulton. Interment will immediately follow at Oakland Cemetery in Moulton. Visitation will take place from 5:00-7:00 p.m. on Monday, August 13, 2018 at Thomas Funeral Home in Moulton.
