Ardys Eugene Nickell's Obituary
Ardys Nickell, 76 of Allerton, passed away Monday, December 27, 2021 on his farm.
Ardys was born on August 6, 1945 in Leon, Iowa to Calvin & Maxine (Ellis) Nickell. He received his education from Allerton High School, graduating in 1963. On May 23, 1964, Ardys was united in marriage to Wanda Evans at the Lineville Assembly of God Church, where they continued to be members.
Ardys worked as a mechanic at the natural gas pipeline company in Lineville for 34 ½ years, as well as farming his whole life.
Ardys enjoyed working, farming, hunting, and most of all spending time with his wife, children, and grandchildren. Ardys gave back to his community by being a good neighbor and serving multiple terms on the boards of Lineville-Clio schools and Lineville Assembly of God. He loved to laugh, have a good time, was always teasing and enjoyed life to the fullest. His laughter was contagious and he never met a stranger. He was known as "Poppy" to his grandchildren, great grandchildren, and many others who knew and loved him. He will be missed dearly.
Survivors include his wife, Wanda Nickell, children: Mike Nickell (Tonia), Cindy Comer (Kevin), Greg Nickell (Annie), grandchildren: Melissa Abel (Garrett), Laura Jeffrey (Tyler), Amber Wilson (Dakota), Michael Comer (Susan), Matthew Comer (Brooke), Alicia Martinez (Lorenzo), Katelyn Nickell, Elizabeth Nickell, 11 great grandchildren and number 12 is due in February, siblings: Garry Nickell (Viola), Dianna Johnson (John), and numerous extended family. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral service will be Monday, January 3, 2022 at Thomas Funeral Home in Corydon. Interment will immediately follow at Clio Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday, January 2, 2022 at Thomas Funeral Home from 1-3 pm, with family present. Memorials may be given to the Lineville Assembly of God Church and condolences may be shared at www.thomasfh.com or facebook.com/thomasfuneralhome.
