Archie T. Martin's Obituary
Archie Martin, age 52 of Centerville, Iowa passed away Monday, June 18, 2012 at Mercy Medical Center in Centerville, Iowa.
He was born February 14, 1960 in Clinton, Iowa, the son of Archie R. and Judy (Hofer) Martin. Archie grew up in Clinton, Iowa. Following his completion of school, he entered the United State Marine Corp. Archie was an expert rifleman and achieved the rank of Lance Corporal.
Archie married Jennice Eagle on April 15, 1995 at the Assembly of God Church in Centerville.
Following his military career, Archie went to work for the Clinton Pallet Company in Clinton, Iowa. He also engaged in farm work while in Clinton. Archie moved to Centerville in the mid 1980s. He held numerous occupations in Southern Iowa, including working for Rubbermaid, Farner-Bocken, C&C Machining, the Bloomfield Foundry, C&C Motorcycles in Chariton, Iowa, RS Solutions, and Mauer Power Equipment. Most importantly, Archie loved welding.
Archie had many passions in life. He loved riding Harley Motorcycles. In fact, Archie was a member of a Christian motorcycle club. He was also very passionate about all animals. Archie loved weightlifting and held himself to a strict workout on a daily basis.
He was a member of the Nazarene Church in Centerville. On April 21, 2011 he had come back to the Lord and loved his maker. Most importantly, Archie loved his family and friends.
Archie is survived by his wife Jennice Martin of Centerville, Iowa; five children, Rusty (Clarissa) Cabossart of Ottumwa, Iowa, Natasha (Joseph) DePaula of Centerville, Nicole (Brandon) Slaubaugh of Richland, Iowa, Joshua (Fiance Kayla Cockriel) Cabossart of Centerville, and Heather Martin of Washington; his parents, Archie R. (Judy) Martin of Centerville; a brother Mark (Melissa) Martin of Centerville, Iowa; two sisters, Deborah (Tom) Stutzel of Centerville, and Laurie (Chuck) Diebold of Osage Beach, Missouri; nine grandchildren, Riley and Autumn Cabossart of Ottumwa, Iowa, Gabriella, Allie, and Alexander DePaula of Centerville, Gavin and Ellie Slaubaugh of Richland, Iowa, Kiera and Elijah Cabossart of Centerville; nine nieces and nephews, Kevin Martin of Centerville, Sam West of Centerville, Stevie, Ethan, and Ashton Butler of Osage Beach, Missouri, Ashley Martin of Centerville, Jonathan Brown of Centerville, Luke Travere of Clinton, Iowa, and Bekah Stutzel of Centerville.
He was preceded in death by his brother John Martin; and a nephew, Avery Martin.
Funeral services will be held 10:30 AM, Friday, June 22, 2012 at Lange Funeral Home and Crematory in Centerville with Pastor Walter King officiating. Burial will follow in the Oakland Cemetery, Centerville, Iowa. A visitation will be held on Thursday at Lange Funeral Home from 12-8 with the family present from 6-8 PM. Memorials have been established to the Archie T. Martin Memorial Fund and may be given to Lange Funeral Home, 1900 S. 18th St., Centerville, Iowa, 52544.
