Anne Chebuhar's Obituary
Anne Marie Chebuhar, 95, of Centerville passed away, Saturday, February 28, 2015 at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines, IA. Anne was born to the late Louie & Louise (Maletta) Mitchell in Eagle River, Wisconsin, on June 13, 1919. The family moved to Appanoose County when Anne was a young girl. She received her education from Rathbun High School, where she also played on the women's basketball team. On April 20, 1940 Anne was united in marriage to Vincent Anthony Chebuhar in Centerville, Iowa. To this union were three children: Mary Louise, DeAnne Marie and Vincent Louis. Anne was a loving mother and homemaker. The only other job she had was at the dime store in Centerville. Anne didn't particularly like this position, so she retired after one hour. Anne had many interests and enjoyed philanthropic work. She sold candy for the Hospital Auxiliary and painted ceramic holiday ornaments. Anne was a member of the 18-80 and Prestige clubs and a loyal parishioner of St. Mary's Catholic Church. In her younger years, Anne enjoyed serving milk and cookies to the kids at St. Mary's School and reading to them. She was well traveled throughout the United Stated. She played the organ at St. Anthony's parish in Rathbun until the church closed. Anne loved to walk; she often respectfully refused rides from people. She walked three miles a day and stated that walking "is the key to a long life". She was an avid baker and annually made over 500 Christmas cookies for her family and friends. Anne enjoyed time with her girlfriends throughout her life. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her. Anne is survived by three children: Mary Louise Bryan of Las Vegas, Nevada, DeAnne Taylor (Darrell) of Las Vegas, Nevada, Kirk Chebuhar of Rathbun, Iowa, three grandchildren: Nicole Bryan of Las Vegas, Nevada, Janna Bryan of Charlotte, North Carolina and Dustin Marie Harper (Ivan) of Bogota, Colombia.
