Anna Katherine Waits' Obituary
Anna Katherine (Smith) Waits, age 75 originally of Leon, Iowa passed away Saturday, March 27, 2021 at Centerville Specialty Care.
She was born on September 17, 1945 in Leon, Iowa, the youngest daughter of Albert and Opal (Bennett) Smith. Anna graduated from Leon High School. She was united in marriage to Walter Dale Waits in September of 1964. The couple celebrated many wonderful years of marriage together until Walters passing on December 31, 2016.
It should be noted that Anna and Walter enjoyed extensively traveling together throughout the years, especially to numerous national preserves. Anna had many talents including painting, sewing, cooking and even cake decorating. Furthermore, she acquired a large collection of stuffed bears throughout her lifetime. She cherished the stuffed bear collection and even wrote stories in reference to the bears. Most importantly, Anna loved her family.
Left to honor her memory include her four siblings, Jacquelin "Jackie" Selby of Seymour, Iowa, Marjorie Housh of Seymour, Iowa, Robert (Sheryl) Smith of Dexter, Minnesota, and Donald (Judy) Smith of Ripley, Tennessee; honorary daughters, Connie Jaco of La Vergne, Tennessee, and Linda Gagen of Hoover, Alabama; her goddaughter, Katrina Wilde; along with several nieces and nephews, and great nieces and nephews.
Anna was preceded in death by her parents, Albert and Opal Smith; her husband, Walter; a brother, Leland Smith; and six sisters, Virginia, Clara "Sis," Betty, Phyllis "Jean," Beverly "Jody," and Wanda.
According to Annas wishes, cremation has been accorded. A family Celebration of Life service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established to the Anna Waits Memorial and may be mailed to Lange Funeral Home and Crematory, 1900 S. 18th St., Centerville, Iowa, 52544.
