Ann M McGuire's Obituary
Ann M. McGuire, age 82 of Centerville, Iowa passed away Wednesday, July 13, 2016 at the Golden Age Care Center in Centerville, Iowa.
Ann was born on May 2, 1934 in Rathbun, Iowa, the daughter of Charles and Maggie (Mitchell) Cortesio Sr. She attended Centerville Schools and graduated from Centerville High School with the Class of 1952. Growing up, Ann was a member of the Rathbun Catholic Church.
Ann married Clarence Benton, and to this union five children were born, Linda, Karen, Randy, Janet, and David. They later divorced. On February 2, 1985, Ann was united in marriage to Robert "Mick" McGuire in Unionville, Missouri. They have spent the last 31 wonderful years together.
She was a long time member of the St. Marys Catholic Church in Centerville. She loved Genealogy, watching Wheel of Fortune, playing cards, playing the organ and the accordion. Moreover, she loved her children and grandchildren dearly. She enjoyed playing basketball with the grandkids, as well as watching the Iowa Hawkeyes basketball team. She also loved to cook, and was very good at it.
Ann is survived by her husband, Robert "Mick" McGuire of Centerville, her children, Linda (Carl) Hilpl of Sellersville, Pennsylvania, Karen (Rick) Wells of Rockwall, Texas, Randy (Marty) Benton of Arlington, Texas, Janet Benton of Parker, Texas and David (Marla) Benton of Plano, Texas; a brother, Richard (Katie) Cortesio of Des Moines; 14 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren, and a great granddaughter to be born soon.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Maggie Cortesio; sisters, Rose, Jennie, Mary, and Theresa; brothers, Joe, Louis, Charles Jr., Tom, Tony, and Carmen.
Funeral services will be held at 2 PM Saturday, July 16, 2016 at Lange Funeral Home and Crematory in Centerville, Iowa with Father Bill Hubmann officiating. Burial will follow in the Elgin Cemetery in Mystic, Iowa. A visitation will take place from 12:30-2 PM, Saturday, July 16, 2016 at Lange Funeral Home in Centerville. A memorial has been established to the Alzheimers Association, and may be mailed to Lange Funeral Home and Crematory, 1900 South 18th Street, Centerville, Iowa 52544.
