Ann Irelan's Obituary
Anna Louise Trevisol was born November 26, 1921 in Centerville, IA, the only child of John and Frances Vallero Trevisol. She graduated from St. Mary's School, then Centerville High School with the class of 1938. She worked as secretary and bookkeeper for Brody's department store, then as clerk for the Appanoose County Selective Service System. She married her high school sweetheart, George Herndon, Jr., on August 17, 1941 in Brookfield, Missouri. Shortly after that, her job duties required her to prepare enlistment papers for her new husband and his brother. After George's return from the Army, they became parents of two daughters, Patrice Herndon, now deceased, and Georgia Lynn. Ann was an active volunteer in many community and church organizations over the years. She was especially enthusiastic about her church, and causes involving her daughters. George died on December 13, 1975. Ann then worked as secretary for Centerville High School's guidance office and Horizon Alternative High School. In 1996, after twenty years of widowhood, Ann married James Arthur Irelan. They enjoyed 17 years together in Centerville, supporting St. Mary's Church and Central United Methodist Church, dining out frequently, and celebrating family holidays with the Howards and the Wilsons. Jim passed away November 16, 2013. Ann later moved to Bickford Urbandale where she passed away peacefully on November 8, 2018. Ann is survived by one daughter Georgia Lynn Herndon Howard, her son in law Charles Howard, and grandsons Charles Jonathan Howard and Bradley Alan Howard; her step-daughter Sharon Irelan Wilson and step-son in law Jim Wilson and their children and grandchildren: Jim Wilson; Jeffrey and Anne Wilson, Caleb and Grace; Brian and Jennifer Wilson, Sawyer and Emma. Funeral Mass will be offered by Father Bill Hubmann at 11:00 on Friday, November 16, 2018, at St. Mary's Church, 828 S. 18th St. Centerville Iowa 52544. Family will be present one hour prior.
