She was preceded in death by her husband Charles Carl Shivvers and four brothers: Herman, Dwight, Everett and Dean Snider. Anita's first priority was always her loved family members. She was a very active farm wife for many years, often bringing lunch to the fields for her husband, raising a large garden, canning, as well as separating the cream for Saturday's trading in Corydon. The Sunday family dinners always included delicious homemade pies, rolls, and fried chicken. Charles was an entrepreneur and Anita was always there with a helping hand, from picking strawberries at the family's roadside strawberry patch in Ankeny, to being a waitress and cook at their restaurant in Des Moines, to being the first bookkeeper at Shivvers Manufacturing in Corydon. Anita especially enjoyed her time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Her special Christmas dinners that always included homemade noodles made with care were always anticipated. In later years she made an occasional trip to the casino, and she often enjoyed a good afternoon of golfing with friends around Corydon.
