Aline Chapman's Obituary
Aline Naomi Chapman, age 86, of Centerville, Iowa, died Friday, September 25, 2009 at Mercy Medical Center in Centerville. She was born the daughter of Oral and Dela (Matheson) Large on June 15, 1923 in Numa, Iowa. She attended the Numa Community Schools.In 1938, Aline was united in marriage to Archie Chapman. She attended the Numa United Methodist Church. She was a very generous person, as she saw a need to give to Disable Veterans, Easter Seals, Heart Association and the Cancer Society. She received the Iowa Volunteer Award from Governor Brandstad for which she was so proud. She lived for her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. They will all remember her great sense of humor.She is preceded in death by: her parents; husband, Archie Chapman; sisters, Pauline Williams; half-brother, Richard Large; granddaughters, Jennifer Lynn Davis and Dawne Michelle McVeigh; grandson, David Frank McVeigh; great grandson, Avery Martin; and great great grandson, Joseph James McVeigh.Aline is survived by: her sons, Jerry Chapman, Robert Chapman and his wife, Rebecca, and Lyle Chapman all of Centerville, Iowa; daughters, Dixie Davis of Centerville, Iowa, Judy Chapman-Garcia of Clifton, Texas and Barbara Armstrong and her husband, Willard of Centerville, Iowa; a sister, Betty Large of Union, Missouri; twenty grandchildren, thirty-nine great-grandchildren and five great-great grandchildren.Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, September 29, 2009 at 1 pm at the Schmidt Family Funeral Home in Centerville, Iowa with Rev. Kay Singley officiating. Burial will follow at the Numa Cemetery in Numa, Iowa. Visitation will be held on Monday, September 28, 2009 from 3 pm till 8 pm at the Schmidt Family Funeral Home in Centerville with the family present from 6 pm till 8 pm at the funeral home.Memorials can be made to either the Disabled Veterans or to the Cancer Society and may be left at the funeral home.
