Alice Thomas, 95 of Decorah formerly of Bloomfield passed away Thursday, August 30, 2012 in Decorah. Alice was born in Bloomfield on March 4, 1917 to Clyde & Mattie(Croft) Friend. She received her education from Davis County Schools. Alice was united in marriage on May 28,1938 to Arthur Thomas. She was a member of the Nazarene church in Bloomfield until moving to Decorah after the death of her husband. Alice enjoyed spending time in her garden. She also enjoyed time spent with her family. Alice is survived by a daughter, Donna VanHorn(Lowell) of Decorah, three grandchildren; Debra VanHorn(Eric Stahr) of Decorah, Roger VanHorn(Bonny) of Houston, Tx, Douglas VanHorn(JoAnn) of Madison, Wisconsin, seven great grandchildren; John, Marie and Daniel Malonophy, Justi, Johsua and JeffreyVanHorn, Copper VanHorn, two step-great grandchildren, Nina and Maddy Stahr and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband of 47 years Arthur Thomas, sister, Dortha White, three brothers; Leo, Irvin and Dewey Friend. Funeral services will be 10:30, Tuesday, September 4, 2012 at Thomas Funeral Home in Bloomfield. Visitation will be from 1-5 p.m., Monday, September 3, 2012 at Thomas Funeral Home - 108 W. Poplar - Bloomfield, Iowa 52537 with the family present from 3-5 p.m.. Interment will be in I.O.O.F Cemetery in Bloomfield. Memorials may be given to the Grace Pointe Church of the Nazarene in Bloomfield. Condolences and video may be shared at www.thomasfh.com.
