Alice H McClure's Obituary
Alice Henrietta (Proctor) McClure, age 91, of Seymour, Iowa, passed away peacefully at her home on Friday, June 5, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family.
Born on August 3, 1934, in Cold Springs, Missouri, Alice was the daughter of James Howard Proctor and Lola Alice (Upshaw) Proctor. She grew up with an appreciation for hard work, simple joys, and the importance of caring for others-qualities that would define her throughout her life.
Alice had a passion for country living and devoted herself to tending her garden, and creating a home filled with warmth and hospitality. Her home became a place where family, neighbors, and friends were always welcomed, and where conversations on the front porch often stretched for hours.
Deeply invested in her community, Alice spent countless hours working to improve the town of Cincinnati. Among her most cherished projects was the care and preservation of Pleasant Hill Cemetery, a labor of love that reflected their respect for history, community, and those who came before them. She also thoroughly loved trips "back home" to her homeplace in Missouri and reminisced often of her trip to Oregon with Pete and Phyliss as well as quite a few trips to Oregon to see her sisters with her favorite sister-in-law, Ruby.
Alice will be remembered for her kind heart, steady presence, and the way she made everyone feel at home. Whether sharing stories on the porch, lending a helping hand, or simply enjoying the beauty of a quiet day, she found happiness in life's simple blessings and in the people she loved most.
Those left to cherish Alice's memory are her children, Jerry Bennett, Carole (Larry) Brown, Joyce (Donnie) Davis, Roger (Lynn) Bennett, Billie Rae (Matt) Atkinson, and Barb Pasa; 19 grandchildren, Chasidy (Joe) Bennett, Eric (Tina) Bennett, Matt Bennett, Amanda (Chase) Bennett, Shane (Natalie) Brown, Judd Brown, Jodi (Casey) Berlau, Holly (John) Bennett, Jason (Chris) Bennett, Brennan (Melissa) Davis, Beth (Nate) Shilling, Chad (Jessica) Bennett, Stacey (Jason) Mizer, Jared (Emily) Bennett, Darrin Cabossart, Dustin Cabossart, Delaney (Christian) Kelso, Owen (Caiti) Pasa, and Kate (Warren) Pasa; 24 great grandchildren; 6 great-great grandchildren; special friends, Barb Fetters, Patti Timmens, Aleta McKelvy, and Darrell Woodley; as well as several extended family members and friends.
Alice was preceded in death by her parents, James and Lola Proctor; her grandson, Korey Lee; her son, Jim Bennett; her daughter-in-law, Cheryl Bennett; her son-in-law, Tim Pasa; a great-grandchild; and her siblings, Arlene Brixey, Vasel Proctor, Virgil Proctor, Bertha Hodge, Chalmer Proctor, Enola Roper, Elma Alsup, Nadine Page, Geneva Heinenmann, Virginia Jacobs and Dick Proctor.
