Alberta Snider's Obituary
Alberta June (Darrah) Snider, 95, of Seymour, passed away on February, 1, 2019 at Corydon Specialty Care. Alberta was born to Roy and Vera (Nicholson) Darrah on November 4, 1923 in Appanoose County, Iowa. She graduated from Cincinnati Iowa High School. On October 23, 1948, she married Miles A. Snider of Seymour. They shared 70 wonderful years together. To this union, one son, Howard was born. Alberta was a farm wife and enjoyed crocheting doilies and afghans which she shared with many family members and friends. She had many blessings and counted them daily. She especially loved her two granddaughters: Ann and Jill and later, her four great grandchildren. Alberta was baptized at the Seymour United Methodist Church where she was a member for several years. She and her husband enjoyed country western music and spent many Saturday nights at the Rathbun Country Music Theater. They also enjoyed camping and spending winters in Texas, Arizona and California. She also enjoyed their trip to Hawaii. Alberta attended the World's Fair in Knoxville, Tennessee. She enjoyed bus trips; especially the one to Washington, D.C. to see the cherry blossoms. Alberta was preceded in death by her parents; brothers: Dalton "Dike," Eugene Howard and Duane "Tate" Darrah; in-laws: Samuel and Myrtle (Stroud) Snider and great granddaughter, Jacqueline Dell. She is survived by her husband, Miles; son, Howard (Cynthia) Snider of Seymour; granddaughters: Ann (Matt) Perrin of Pleasant Hill, Iowa and Jill (Justin) Dell of Centerville. Also surviving "Grandma Berta" are her great grandchildren: Kinser and Kiernan Perrin of Pleasant Hill and Joceyln and Jazmyn Dell of Centerville; sister, Romona (Gene) Gibbs of Promise City; brother-in-law, Ben (Marilyn) Snider of Webster City; sister-in-laws: Helen Snider, Deloris and Florence Darrah of Seymour and Donna Snider of Afton as well as many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, February 6, 2019 at Thomas Funeral Home in Seymour. Interment will immediately follow at Southlawn Cemetery.
