Alan Duane Brown's Obituary
Alan Duane Brown, 81, of Promise City passed away at his home on September 13, 2016. Alan was born in Promise City to Robert Lester Brown Sr. and Juanita Leone (Allen) Brown on August 29, 1935. Alan graduated from Corydon High School with the class of 1953. Alan served in the United States Army from 1955-1957. After the army, he came home and began farming with his father and brother and was still farming at the time of his death. Along with farming, Alan loved to spend time golfing with his friends and enjoyed visiting with his buddies while having a "toddy". Alan is survived by his sons; Matt Brown of Promise City, Alan George (Marina George Lopez) of Bogota, Columbia, daughter; Sherri Stufflebeem (Terry) of Polk City, sister; Shirley Paugh (Craig) of San Clemente, CA, brother; Stan Brown (Vicki) of Fontanelle, sister-in-law; Wanda Brown of Promise City, grandson Tyler Spencer of Promise City, granddaughter Halley Ross (Shadow) and great grandchildren; Draven and Peyton Ross of Colfax, along with many other relatives and friends. Alan was preceded in death by his parents, wife; Ila Coleen Brown, sister; Patty Sue Hawk, and brother; Robert Lee Brown Jr. A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, September 21, 2016 at 10:30 am at the Confidence Cemetery with Pastor Leroy Perkins officiating. Visitation will be held Tuesday, September 20, 2016 from 5:00 pm-7:00 pm at the Thomas-Randolph Funeral Home in Corydon. Memorials may be given to the family to be decided at a later date.
