Adrian Ramos' Obituary
Adrian Ramos, age 95, of Centerville, passed away Wednesday, December 13, 2023 at the Women's Methodist Emergency Department in Elkhorn, Nebraska.
Adrian was born on September 8, 1928 in Puerto Rico, the son of Juan and Nicasia (Serrano) Ramos. At the age of 23, he enlisted in the United States Army on April 20, 1951. He was a Culinary Specialist in the Army, and served his country faithfully. On March 11, 1954, Adrian was honorably discharged.
Adrian met the love of his life, Lorraine V. Maletta, and the couple was married in Mystic, Iowa. To this union, three children were born, Doug, Rita and Rich. Adrian and Lorraine were the picture-perfect couple for unconditional love.
Adrian was very active in the St. Mary's Catholic Church. Along with his family, his religion was very important to him. He was also very active in the Knights of Columbus. Adrian was known for his cooking at the Knights of Columbus meals as well as various other community dinners in Centerville. Anyone who heard that Adrian was cooking, wanted to be there to eat. Everyone enjoyed his meals, especially his spaghetti.
Left to honor Adrian's memory are his children, Doug (Tammy) Ramos, Rita Ramos, and Rich (Barb) Ramos; his grandchildren, Luke Ramos and Marissa Ramos; as well as a host of family members and friends.
Adrian was preceded in death by his parents, Juan and Nicasia Ramos; his brothers, Francisco and Juan Ramos; his sister Clara Gonzales; and his wife, Lorraine Ramos.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00AM, Saturday, December 16, 2023 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Centerville with Fr. Timothy Armbruster, C.P.P.S. officiating. Burial will follow the service at Oakland Cemetery in Centerville with Military Rites. Visitation will take place Friday, December 15, 2023 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Centerville from 1:00PM-7:00PM, with the family greeting friends from 5:00-7:00PM. A prayer service will be conducted at 6:30PM Friday evening at St. Mary's in Centerville. In lieu of flowers, memorials in honor of Adrian may be made to either St. Mary's Catholic Church or to Centerville Community Betterment, and may be mailed to Thomas Funeral Home, ATTN: Ramos Family, 501 North 18th Street, Centerville, Iowa 52544.
