Ada Valentine's Obituary
Ada Valentine, age 100 of Centerville, Iowa, formerly of Clarkdale, Iowa, died Friday, April 12, 2013 at the Golden Age Care Center, Centerville, Iowa.
She was born on January 11, 1913 in Clarkdale, Iowa, the daughter of Richard and Zella (Workman) Holland. Ada married Frendo Valentine in July of 1933 in Unionville, Missouri. To this union three children were born, Donald, Ron, and Kenny Valentine. Frendo passed away on May 20, 1984.
Ada led an active lifestyle throughout her lifetime. She loved gardening, as well as numerous other outdoor activities. Ada enjoyed cleaning her house, faithfully maintaining a ""spotless"" home on a daily basis. Most importantly, she loved caring for her family, especially cooking for them. When a family member walked into her home, she could often be heard asking, ""Are you hungry?"" Her famous Halloween, popcorn balls will be missed by many people.
She is survived by her two children, Ron (Mitzi) Valentine of Plano, Iowa and Kenny (Jean) Valentine of Clarkdale, Iowa; four grandchildren, Rick (Laura) Valentine of Indianola, Iowa, Scott (Tracie) Valentine of Numa, Iowa, Michael (Linda) Valentine of Centerville, Iowa, and Lee (Brenda) Valentine of Peculiar, Missouri; nine great grandchildren, Sam, Rachael, Alex, Trevor, Tyler, Jon, and Chris Valentine, Staci (Ryan) Climie, and Shannon (Daniel) Robinson; three great, great grandchildren, Cade Climie, Colton, and Mesa Robinson; and two special nieces, Carolyn Whitehead and Judy Williams.
Ada was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Frendo; a sister Hester Foster; a brother Richard Holland; and an infant son, Donald Keith Valentine.
Funeral services will be held 2 PM, Monday, April 15, 2013 at Lange Funeral Home and Crematory in Centerville with Pastor Ken Mehrhoff officiating. Interment will follow in the Haines Cemetery north of Centerville. A visitation will be held on Sunday, April 14 at Lange Funeral Home from 1-8 PM, with the family present from 6-8 PM. Memorials have been established to the Haines Cemetery and may be given to Lange Funeral Home and Crematory, 1900 S. 18th St., Centerville, Iowa, 52544.
