Christopher Ranft's Obituary
Christopher “Chris” Lawrence Ranft, Corydon, passed away at the Wayne County Hospital on Thursday, December 17, 2015 at the age of 64. Chris was born on December 16, 1951 to Charles Ranft, Sr. and Constance (née Hyer) Ranft in New Jersey.
Chris grew up in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and was a jack of all trades. He served in the National Guard for close to six years. He worked as a painter throughout his life, focusing on the exterior and interior of homes and office buildings. Chris was very particular about his trade, one that came in handy as he was a self-made mechanic for his family and friends. He also loved to work on cars. Chris and his father also spent many days together in the shop making wooden Christmas gifts to give out to friends and family. He was a free spirit.
Chris was very easy to get along with; he had so many friends and family members that thought very fondly of him. If you visited with him for even a short time, he considered you his friend. He would do anything for anybody at any time.
He is survived by his mother, Constance Ranft, of Wisconsin; his wife Pam Lucas of Corydon; his daughters Melissa Parkin (Dustin) of Corydon and Catherine Dummann (Henry) of Wisconsin; his son Christopher Schaefer (Mary) of Wisconsin; his three grandchildren: Serenity, Mya and Oliver; brothers Curt Ranft (Jaci) and Charles Ranft (Nancy); sister-in-law Val; and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Charles; his sister, Cheryl; his brother, Craig; and his niece, Sarah.
A memorial service for Chris will be held in Wisconsin at a later date.
